Nasher Sculpture Center

Step back from the beautiful skyline of Dallas, Texas and prepare to enjoy the Arts District of downtown.  The Nasher Sculpture Center provides another kind of beauty to the Dallas area.  Home to Raymond & Patsy Nasher’s 20th –century sculpture collection the museum is a beautiful retreat from the hectic city life.   When in Dallas and looking for a Nasher Sculpture Center hotel, book the Dallas Doubletree Market Center hotel less than five miles away!

At the Nasher Sculpture Center, referred to as a “roof-less” museum, guests enjoy not only the brilliant art work but also the great Dallas, Texas weather.  The contemporary setting has a large garden with magnificent landscaping including stone walls and ponds.  Artistic sculptures are throughout the two-acre garden for people to enjoy as they casually stroll the property.

A large 54,000 square foot building is home to the remainder of the 20th century collection.  This indoor gallery continues the center’s roof-less theme.  The architecture encloses the gallery with glass panes which float above guests as they enjoy the vast assortment of artwork.

The Nasher Sculpture Center features a rotating selection of works from the Nasher Family’s collection.  Guests to the Center enjoy a variety of works such as Claes Oldenburg’s 1976 work: Typewriter Eraser, Anthony Caro’s 1961 work: Sculpture Three and Alberto Giacometti’s 1953 sculpture:  Diego in a Sweater.

Viewing interesting artwork is only part of the Nasher Sculpture Center’s charge.  Part of the center’s mission is to educate by developing public programs and teaching the history of sculpture.  Programs such as the Nasher Summer Institute for Teens, the Museum Forum for Teachers and Museum 101 were all created to share the wonderful world of sculpture. The Nasher Center encourages interest, conservation and education to ensure tomorrow’s generation will be able to enjoy both historic and contemporary art for years to come.
